Bob Wilson Cheney

SUN CITY WEST - Bob Wilson Cheney died Aug. 15, 2011, in the Hospice of Arizona In-patient Unit of Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West. He earned two degrees from Southern Methodist University of Dallas and served in the Army from 1952-1954. Bob taught in the Dallas area for 38 years, the majority of which were at the Dallas County Community College District teaching history. He moved to Sun City West with his wife, Dr. Diane Holloway Cheney in 1992. They taught Elderhostels in several states during retirement and Bob wrote four books claiming: "Billions and billions of people didn't read my books but a lucky few did." He is survived by Diane and his two sons and their families, Dr. Alan Cheney (psychology professor) of Denver and wife Deirdre and their two children: Emilie married to Captain Aaron Staryak and Philip Cheney married to Beth Wosniak, and Dr. Stuart Cheney (music professor) of Fort Worth and wife Heidi and their two children: Aminda and Sylvia. Bob believed that nobody ever had a better life than he did and his final motto was: "Every day is a gift."
