Board of Supervisors approves funds to outside attorney in sheriff’s case

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 2 approved $750,000 in funds to an outside law firm to help deal with federal monitoring of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.

The board authorized the funds for attorney Dominic Draye of Greenberg Traurig law firm to continue to represent Maricopa County in the case of Melendres v. Sheridan in federal court.

According to Tom Liddy from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, this process has been ongoing since 2009.
