Statistics indicated Glendale was justified in not picking up the tab for RideChoice service once grant money for the pilot program from Valley Metro ran out June 30.
Yet following the Glendale City Council June 10 meeting and amid a greater understanding of the human cost of ending the ride service that is akin to Uber or Lyft, officials left the door open at least a crack for RideChoice returning on a smaller scale down the road.
Five people spoke about the ride services’ benefits — two from Glendale, one from Peoria who woks closely with the Glendale residents, a Sun City resident and a Surprise resident. All five are blind and extolled the services’ personal service and flexibility.
