Blackstone Country Club events raise more than $211K for local charities

Members and guests of Blackstone Country Club at Vistancia have raised more than $211,400 for various charities and causes over the last eight months.

Through a combination of golf tournaments, raffles, silent auctions, donations and bocce ball tournaments, dozens of charities and hundreds of individuals in need have benefitted from the private club’s fundraising events.

Charity events held at Blackstone Country Club include:

• The Knights of Columbus’ 21st Annual Golf Fore Charity event was held in April at Blackstone and raised $37,500 for three different charities, including St. Vincent DePaul, Annunciation Catholic School scholarships and Our Lady of Joy special projects.

• The Singletons 12th Annual Charity Golf Outing raised $83,003 during its April event. Over the last 12 years, the event has raised $733,550 for The Singletons, an Arizona-based nonprofit devoted to meeting the needs of single-parent families battling cancer by providing strength, hope, resources and community.

• The Peoria Chamber of Commerce’s Third Annual First Responders Golf Tournament held in January raised more than $10,000 for Peoria first responders.

• Last December, a Toys for Tots event raised $5,980 in donations, plus 1,278 toys and 71 bikes.

In addition to charity golf tournaments, Blackstone Country Club also conducted a May blood drive, which collected 30 different blood components impacting the lives of 90 local hospital patients with transfusable medicines.

"Blackstone Country Club and our membership take great pride in the club’s charitable efforts,” said Blackstone Country Club General Manager Patrick Denney, PGA. “We are involved in our community and utilize our platform and amenities to help raise funds for those who need a helping hand. We are very fortunate to have a membership who is willing and eager to lend their club to these organizations, as well as volunteer their time to be directly involved in the planning and execution of these charitable events. All of our events benefit homegrown or local organizations within Peoria or Maricopa County, which makes a direct impact at the community level."
