Black Violin returns to the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.
This family-friendly show blends classical sounds with hip-hop beats.
For nearly two decades, Black Violin has striven to go against the grain and merge classical string arrangements with modern beats and hip-hop influences to create a distinctive multi-genre sound.
Kev Marcus gives a violin performance along with Wil Baptiste’s viola and vocal performance. Joining them are Nat Stokes on drums, DJ SPS on the turntable and Liston Gregory on keys.
“When we presented Black Violin in February 2020, I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said Stephanie Fornoff, Webb Center director of marketing. “By the end of the concert the band had the sold out audience of all ages on their feet clapping and cheering. It was magical to see them all connect with each other and with the music.”
Tickets start at $50 for adults; $5 tickets are available for those 18 and younger.
