Black-owned restaurants thriving in the Valley

Black-owned businesses aren’t the biggest part of the Valley’s economy, but they are a growing part.

Much of that has to do with the demographics of the state.

In Arizona, just 4.6% of the total population is African American and even a smaller percentage of businesses are Black-owned, representing just 1% of firms that employ people in Arizona, according to Impact AZ 2025, a diversity readiness program designed to close the racial wealth gap for black and minority business owners.
