Bill to return water to Rio Verde Foothills passes Legislature

Scottsdale City Council sign letter asking Gov. Hobbs not to sign the legislation

Water could soon be flowing once again to the thirsty Rio Verde Foothills community but there are still a number of variables in the equation.

Rep. Gail Griffin’s, R-Sierra Vista, bill to get water flowing through a standpipe owned by the city of Scottsdale passed both houses of the Arizona Legislature on May 15 and is on Gov. Katie Hobbs’ desk to be signed. The bill has an emergency clause in it, which means it would take affect immediately, if signed.

The governor’s office did not respond to a request for comment regarding her intentions for the bill.
