Bill to fund East Valley town's pilot program for group-home runaways passes two committees

A bill that would provide Queen Creek with more than $1.2 million to create a pilot program that would help improve finding children who run away from group homes is make its way through the state Senate.

On Feb. 17, the Senate Appropriations, Transportation and Technology Committee passed Senate Bill 1550, which calls for appropriate money to Queen Creek for the Queen Creek Police Department to establish a three-year pilot program for runaways that would be a model for the rest of the state.
