Bill to allow 'patriotic' groups to speak at Arizona schools during class advances

The latest attempt to have public school principals permit representatives from patriotic youth groups to speak to students during the first quarter of the academic year will go to Arizona House of Representatives.

Sponsored by Rep. Tony Rivero, R-Peoria, House Bill 2312 prohibits a public school from denying equal access to a “patriotic” group wishing to conduct a meeting or distributing material.

The House Education Committee voted 6-5 for a do pass recommendation on Feb. 3. One committee member declined the opportunity to vote.
