Bill on delivery driver liability draws flak

A Scottsdale attorney is pushing back against proposed legislation regarding delivery driver liability claiming it would shift responsibility from delivery companies to actual drivers when they are involved in auto crashes.

Those backing the bill, including delivery companies, contend there would still be liability protections for anyone hurt in an accident.

House Bill 2713 could protect companies such as UberEats, Grubhub and DoorDash from being sued in the event the driver providing “transportation network services” causes personal injury, property damage or wrongful death while the driver “is logged onto the digital” network or software application, the proposed legislation states.
