APACHE JUNCTION - Bill Edward Sexton, 73, of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away on November 11, 2013. Bill was born on September 12, 1940 in Mesa, Arizona. Bill attended Tempe Union High School and joined the Army in 1959. A proud veteran, Bill served in Germany as a radio teletype operator and cryptographer. After military service, he met and fell in love with Barbara Sue Carnes, a carhop at University Drive-In. They were married in 1965 and had four children together. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; their children, Jennifer and Tim Modic, David Sexton, Teresa Sexton, and Bonnie Sexton; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and by his two sisters, Barbara Joyce Hearn and Linda Pacyau. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Sexton and Vivian Garcia; and by his brother, Kenneth Sexton. In his early life, Bill worked in the family business running fresh fruit stands in the Tempe area. Later, Bill worked as a semi-truck driver, a job he loved immensely. He drove a log truck in the 70's and delivered heavy equipment for over 20 years. In retirement, he drove a van part-time for the Apache Junction Active Adult Center transporting seniors to the center and delivering hot meals to homebound seniors for the Meals-on-Wheels program. Always ready with a funny story or a well-delivered punch line, Bill made those around him laugh and feel cared for. In addition to his tremendous love for his family, Bill's lifelong passions were fishing and camping, bowling, shooting pool, golf, NASCAR, 50's & 60's rock, and, of course, driving. Keep on Truckin' Dad.
