Biggs courts Sun City Republicans ahead of governor’s race

Republican frontrunner says campaign momentum is strong and predicts a competitive general election against Gov. Katie Hobbs

Republican gubernatorial candidate Andy Biggs spent much of the evening June 16 making his case to voters at the Sun City Republican Club’s monthly meeting, delivering remarks focused on affordability, border security, public safety and education.

Biggs enters the final stretch of the Republican primary campaign as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination. Recent polling compiled by The New York Times shows Biggs holding a substantial lead over fellow Republican David Schweikart ahead of the July 21 primary. However, the same polling shows incumbent Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs maintaining a narrow lead in the general.

With the primary just over a month away, Biggs used the event has both a campaign stop and a policy forum. Before delivering his speech, the congressman worked his way through the room, stopping to speak individually with attendees.
