Big Surf Waterpark shutters, auctions off assets

Tempe waterpark has been closed since 2019

One of the Valley’s oldest waterparks has become the pandemic’s latest victim.

Big Surf Waterpark, located in Tempe at 1500 S. McClintock Ave., appears to have shuttered. Big Surf recently liquidated all its assets with an online auction run by Phoenix-based Surplus Asset Management.

The auction, which ended Feb. 16, included everything from office furniture, televisions and outdoor picnic tables to waterpark-themed merchandise, fiberglass slides and a tiki totem used at the water park.
