Big Surf site in Tempe to become industrial park

Historic waterpark was demolished in 2021

The site of a now-demolished historic waterpark in Tempe finally has a future.

Big Surf was demolished in 2021 after it was sold for $50 million to California-based Overton Moore Properties, a commercial real estate company. The 35-acre parcel has sat empty ever since at 1480 N. McClintock Drive. On Dec. 13, the Tempe Development Review Commission approved OMP’s plans to turn the site into an industrial park.

The plans for OMP Industrial Park were unanimously approved by the commission as part of its consent agenda. No members of the public came forward to comment.
