Big Brothers Big Sisters ‘Tee Up For Kids’ event raises $72K

Posted

On June 5, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona hosted its annual Tee Up For Kids Topgolf Tournament presented by DEPCOM Power and Leslie’s Pool Supplies.

Additional top sponsors included Fry’s Food Stores and Alliance Bank of Arizona among others, according to a press release. The tournament was held at Topgolf Scottsdale.

Local businesses and organizations participated by becoming sponsors.

Sponsorships started at $2,500 for a private bay of up to six golfers and included recognition benefits at the event. Individuals were also able to participate by donating or fundraising a minimum of $300. Funds were raised through a crowd-sourcing model, which allowed participants to solicit donations from within their network.

This event was completely virtual in 2020 and was modified in 2021 to accommodate smaller group sizes and social distancing. All participants enjoyed Topgolf competitions, breakfast and drink tickets. An online silent auction and on-site raffle added to the revenue. The tournament raised more than $72,000, the press release stated.

All of the money raised will go toward supporting the mission of BBBSAZ.

“Today, children face tremendous challenges, but through effective and sustained mentoring, BBBSAZ can help make a positive and measurable difference in their lives,” said Laura Capello, president and CEO, BBBSAZ. “We depend on the support of our local community including corporate partners and volunteer fundraisers to help raise vital donations needed to continue to match more children with caring, supportive mentors.”
