Biden bids goodbye to Delaware as inauguration looms

NEW CASTLE — Prior to traveling to Washington for his inauguration, President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday bid farewell to his adopted home state of Delaware from a National Guard training center named after his late son, Beau, who died in 2015.

At points, the president-elect could be seen wiping tears from his eyes.

“When (this facility) was named after Beau, I told (Maj. Gen. Francis Vavala) at the time, it means everything to me … and our whole family,” he said of the Maj. Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III National Guard/Reserve Center.
