A truck crashed into a group of bicyclists Saturday morning on the Cotton Lane Bridge in Goodyear, killing two and injuring 11, officials said.
The crash happened about 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, near Cotton Lane and MC85.
Police said “a large group of adult bicyclists” were hit by a pickup truck. One woman died at the scene and a second rider died at a hospital, police said.
The injured cyclists were taken to three different area hospital with various injuries, according to police.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene.
Cotton Lane is closed in both directions between MC85 and the traffic circle at Estrella Parkway and will remain closed for several hours “as police conduct a very thorough investigation,” authorities said at noon Saturday.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
