Bicyclist thanks safety-conscious pedestrians

Sun City West resident: Walkers who move from street to sidewalk keep riders from having to veer into traffic

OPINION — Heartfelt thanks to those pedestrians who step out of the street and onto the sidewalk when approached by an oncoming bicyclist.

Your kindness and consideration for the safety of others avoids forcing the bicyclist to veer farther into traffic the bicyclist can’t see.

For the record, Arizona traffic law (Item A, Arizona Revised Statutes, Section 28-796, entitled “Pedestrians on roadways”) states: “If sidewalks are provided, a pedestrian shall not walk along and on an adjacent roadway.”
