Peoria resident Lois Hatfield knows firsthand what damage a fraudulent contractor can do to someone’s finances.
Shortly after moving to the area, Hatfield, 82, was going to activate a home security system already in place at her new home. Before she could get to it, two men showed up at her doorstep claiming to be there to update her alarm system.
“I didn’t check, just assumed they were from the company that had the system at my new home, so I let them in,” she explained. “That was a lesson learned.”
