Beverly Joyce Jensen passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023 in Peoria, Arizona at the age of 96. A vibrant and energetic woman, Bev was a devoted wife of 49 years to Tom, a mother, homemaker, seamstress and friend. She was well known as a gracious hostess who enjoyed inviting friends to her home for social gatherings. She was generous with her time and talents. Her Christmas baking was legendary and it was not unusual for her to bake 14 pies at a time to provide to her church. Beverly Joyce (Post) was born in Reading, MN on February 27, 1927. She grew up on the family farm in Worthington, MN with her parents Harry and Katherine Post, and sisters Wilma and Helen. After high school, she attended secretarial school and later met Thomas Jensen (Tom) in Luverne, MN. They were married in April of 1951 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Litchfield, MN and then settled in Willmar, MN where they raised their 3 children. While the children were in school, Bev worked from their home as a much sought-after seamstress who sewed prom dresses and other high quality clothing. In 1965 she became a dedicated employee of the Lakeland Medical Center (later known as the Willmar Clinic) where she worked until her retirement in 1982, at which time she and Tom began spending winters in Sun City, Arizona. They eventually moved to Sun City year-around. In 1985, Bev started a business, Bev’s Bags, sewing beautiful custom handbags. She continued this creative process until the age of 95. After Tom’s death in 2000, Bev remained in their home in Sun City until the age of 90, when she moved into an apartment at the Sun Valley Lodge campus. Since June 2023 she received exceptional care at Integrity Care House in Peoria, AZ. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jensen, parents Harry and Katherine Post, sisters Wilma Young (Robert) and Helen Beckman (Jake). She is survived by three children: Toby Jensen (Sandy) of Northfield, MN; Connie Wade (Jeff) of Minnetonka, MN; and Roger Jensen (Polly) of Mountain View, CA, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beverly was a role model for a life well lived. Her family and friends will miss her dearly. Interment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, next to her husband Tom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the care providers at Integrity Care House, 8952 W Melinda Ln, Peoria, AZ.
