Betty Ardith Morin

Betty Ardith Morin, of Sun City West, AZ, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, died peacefully in her sleep on October 17, 2017. Betty graduated from Robbinsdale High School, Robbinsdale, MN in 1944.On May 10, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart Glen E. Morin. Betty was an award-winning majorette and taught classes before and after her marriage. In 1946 she was asked to lead the Aquatennial Parade in Minneapolis and was named Aquatennial Sweetheart.Betty obtained her Dental Assistant certification and was able to put Glen through school after his return from World War II. Betty was a generous hostess and stood by Glen's side as he rose through the ranks at Pillsbury Company and later as a senior executive at Golden Valley Microwave Foods. Betty was known for her many volunteer works. She helped those institutionalized with Down Syndrome, was a leader in Eastern Star, and coordinated many church functions at Brunswick United Methodist Church. Later in life, Betty volunteered at the Sun Health Resale Shop in Sun City West with her special Thursday group of ladies. Betty was always a loving wife and mother. She maintained a close and warm relationship throughout her life with her sister Elaine.Betty is survived by her two children, Scott Morin of Casa Grande, AZ, and Kristi (Jim) Obler of Marshall, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicole Haglund and Michael Obler of Princeton, MN, her sister Elaine Schreiber of Deephaven, MN, her niece Gail (Paul) Becker of Kingman, AZ, and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.A memorial will be held October 25, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the LaVita Ballroom at Sun Health The Colonnade, 19116 Colonnade Way, Surprise, AZ 85373.Betty will be buried beside her husband, Glen, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
