Bette Liden
July 17, 1926 December 11, 2021
Bette was born in Chicago to William and Betty Engelbert. Very early in life she discovered the joy of dancing, and she performed through much of her life. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where she received a bachelor’s degree in Business and met Ernie Liden, whom she married on Flag Day, June 14, 1947. Ernie and Bette had two sons, Keith and Bob. She was the perfect wife and mom running the household, being a great cook, and supporting her sons’ sports and extra curricular activities.
Upon Ernie’s retirement in 1983, they moved to Sun City, AZ where she was reacquainted with her love of dancing. For the next 25 years she performed in many venues throughout the Phoenix area. Ernie and Bette also found time to travel extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Following Ernie’s death in 2009, she soon moved to Portland, OR and enjoyed the Pacific Northwest.
Betty passed away peacefully following a stroke. She is survived by Keith, Bob, and her three grand daughters Margo, Renee and Laura. She will be missed especially for her positive and upbeat attitude. She missed Ernie very much but now they are dancing together again.
