Bette L. Tibbetts, 91Bette L. Tibbetts passed away Friday, March 14, 2008. She had been a Sun City West resident since 1984. Born in 1917, Ms. Tibbetts grew up in Mt. Vernon, Ill., and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939. She enjoyed 50 years of marriage, and was active in school, scouting, church and community service everywhere she lived - Santa Monica, Calif.; Stamford, Conn.; Fairview, Pa.; and Sun City West, Ariz. Ms. Tibbetts belonged to the Church of the Advent Episcopal Church, Weaver's West Guild and Macs West Club. According to her family, she was dearly loved by family and friends, and was a delight to any stranger she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Tibbetts. Ms. Tibbetts is survived by her children, R. Scott Tibbetts, Westchester, Calif.; Mark S. Tibbetts, Santa Fe, N.M.; Peter M. Tibbetts, McKean, Pa.; and Wendy R. Tibbetts, San Diego, Calif.; her grandchildren, Jonathan and Julianna Tibbetts; her cousin Marejon Sue Shrode, and her cat, Cimba. A memorial service was held March 20 at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made in her memory to American Hospice Foundation or Sun Health Foundation Tribute Fund.
