A swarm of “aggressive” bees caused students at Florence High School to be sent home this morning.
The school dismissed the students between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m. “out of an abundance of caution due to an aggressive hive of bees that have been swarming the campus. Florence Fire Department is on site to handle the hive, but the bees are beginning to become active and agitated again, therefore students will be dismissed,” according to a Florence Unified School District Facebook post.
District transportation picked up all bus riders at 10:30 a.m. Students who drove to school were released to their vehicles at 10:15 a.m. Students who normally walk to school were released at the far end of the campus, the post stated.
