Triple-digit temperatures have wreaked havoc across Sun City West when it comes to vegetation and has added to the budget of an organization working hard to keep up every day.
Plants struggled to survive the heat this summer and several have not survived, forcing the Sun City West Proud Residents Involved Doing Environmental Services, also known as PRIDES, to spend an additional $10,000 in this year’s budget, according to Ron Rada, associate treasurer for revenue for the PRIDES.
Operating the organization takes between $25,000 and $30,000 a year, Rada said, including $9,000 a year in insurance.
