Two events in same week celebrate Fab Four’s legacy
Beatles fans will get their fix this month in Sun City and Sun City West.
First up is a musical celebration of the iconic band when Liverpool Legends, a tribute act, perform two shows, at 3 and 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Palm Ridge Center, 13800 Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West.
Liverpool Legends are four musicians and actors hand-picked by Louise Harrison, sister of the late George Harrison, according to the Liverpool Legends official website. Ms. Harrison’s involvement in Liverpool Legends makes them the only Beatles tribute band with a direct family link to the original Fab Four.
"Each member of the group is so close to the originals that I often feel like I’m transported back in time with the lads," she stated on the website. "These are exactly the kind of fun loving quality musicians that my brother George would have loved to hang out with."
Tickets are $25, and are available by calling 623-544-6580.
In the same week, Vincent Bruno will present a discussion on the Beatles’ 1966 classic album "Revolver." The workshop starts at 1 p.m. at the Sun City Library, 16828 N. 99th Ave.
Mr. Bruno will lead a discussion about the genesis of how the songs were conceived and written, their musical influences, recording and experimental studio techniques and the creation of the legendary artwork cover sleeve. Rolling Stone magazine ranks "Revolver" as the No. 3 album of all time.
To register for the free workshop, call Steve Tompkins at 602-652-3000. Registration ends at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
