QUEEN CREEK — There were many points during Imani Huesca and Taylor Young’s April 29 No. 4 match in the Division I state beach volleyball championships when a victory seemed doubtful.
After all, the pair of O’Connor sophomores did drop the first set to the Xavier Prep freshman-senior combination of Emery O’Connor and Leighton Fig by a 21-11 score.
But, as has happened so many times over the past five years, an O’Connor team rallied and persevered, winning 21-19 and then a grueling 20-18 win in the third set.
