BBB launches JROTC scholarship throughout Maricopa County

Posted

In its sixth year, Better Business Bureau Serving the Pacific Southwest has partnered with Salt River Project to launch the BBB Ethical Cadet Scholarship.

The scholarship program recognizes Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) students for their leadership, commitment to service, and ethical moral compass even in the most difficult situations, according to a press release.

Arizona high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors currently enrolled in a JROTC program within SRP’s service area of Maricopa and Pinal counties, while maintaining 2.75 GPA or higher, are eligible to apply. After completing the essay submission with supporting documents, 10 winning cadets and their school’s JROTC programs will receive $1,000 each, totaling $20,000 in scholarships sponsored by SRP.

“This program is one of a kind as it recognizes ethical JROTC cadets with a scholarship and matches the award for their school’s JROTC program,” Faustine Chan, BBB community and business programs director, shared in a press release.

Applications are now accepted until Wednesday, Jan. 31. Winners will be announced in May and program funds can be used for JROTC activities such as equipment, uniforms, and travel expenses.

Better Business Bureau Serving the Pacific Southwest is located at 1010 E. Missouri Ave., in Phoenix.
