Battery storage facility planned for far north Peoria

System would store electricity when cheap, discharges it during high-demand

A battery energy storage system facility in the far north end of Peoria has been going through the planning stages with the city.

The proposed BESS facility is planned to be built next to the north APS substation at Old Carefree Highway, just west of Lake Pleasant Parkway, according to city officials.

The facilities allow electricity providers to store electricity when it is cheap and discharge it during high-demand periods.
