Baseball All-Star with Glendale ties Lo Duca part of viral video

Paul Lo Duca, who played high school ball with Apollo, college ball at Glendale Community and ASU, and later a long MLB career, captured in heartwarming moment with fan

A recent viral video featuring Apollo High School grad and former Glendale Community College baseball standout Paul Lo Duca has fans celebrating what’s best about the game just a few weeks before Spring Training opens.

Lo Duca retired from an 11-year MLB career after the 2008 season and was a four-time All-Star with four clubs, most notably with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets. Born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised in Glendale, Lo Duca prepped at Apollo High School where he was the state’s co-Player of the Year as a senior in 1990, and later earned two All-America honors with the Glendale Community College program.

In the undated video from 2025, Lo Duca, serving as a coach with the Mets during pregame warmups at Citi Field in New York, encounters a young fan who invites Lo Duca to open a pack of 2008 Topps baseball cards on camera.
