Deer Valley Unified School District’s governing board honored a Barry Goldwater High School student for their achievement of a grant for tackling mental health for student and staff.
Brendan Salisbury, a senior from Goldwater, was selected for the 2023 scholars cohort for the Bezos Scholars Program. He is now the second student from Arizona to be selected in both the state and BSP’s history, according to the governing board.
Salisbury as well as Victoria Muñoz, his nominated supporting educator, are one of 12 U.S. students and five South African students to earn this grant.
