Barbara King (Simboli) Sherman, 88, of Sun City West, AZ passed away Sunday, June 11th of natural causes.Barbara was born February 24, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the oldest child of Emerick and Hildegarde Simboli. Upon graduation from high school, she traveled to Colorado Springs, CO to attend Colorado College. While there she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology.She returned to Pittsburgh and worked for the Aluminum Company of America where she met her husband, Ted. While Ted pursued his career with ALCOA, Barbara pursued her dream of becoming a homemaker and raising a family. She devoted her life to her four children, Bruce, Janet, Jean, and Ted. Her volunteer jobs included scout leader, room mother, EYC leader, swimming judge, and countless other activities. She also discovered a love of golf and spent years playing in and winning many tournaments.Upon Ted's retirement, they moved to Sun City West where they were able to join in many activities including bowling, golf, jazzercise, and bocce ball. Barbara was active in the local Ladies' Golf Groups for many years.Barbara is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ted, her four children Bruce (Gwen), Janet (Ralph,), Jean (Hal), and Ted (Christine) as well as her siblings Paul, Virginia, and David. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren - Tony, Barbara, Allison, Sarah, Jonathan, Alex, Nicholas, Andrew, Benjamin, Bradley, Lucas, and six great grandchildren.A service was held Saturday, June 17th and internment will be at a later date at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Scottsdale.
