Banner expands cancer services in Sun City

Northwest Valley patients to benefit

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center is expanding in the Northwest Valley and combining cancer services in a new location near Banner Boswell Medical Center, 10401 W. Thunderbird Blvd. Sun City.

The new location will feature hematology, medical oncology and infusion services in one location.

Banner MD Anderson has provided cancer care at Banner Boswell since 2014, and this change will provide even more services in one convenient location for patients. Programs and services include genetic counseling, social work, nurse navigation, registered dietitian, clinical pharmacist, psychology, supportive care and access to clinical research trials. Banner Boswell cancer patients also have access to many of the programs and services offered at the comprehensive cancer center in Gilbert.

“Moving and expanding cancer services near Banner Boswell will be more convenient and accessible for patients,” said Dr. Matthew Callister, Banner MD Anderson senior physician executive. “We are focused on making health care easier and locating cancer services together in the West Valley helps us fulfill that mission.”

The new location is 13041 N. Del Webb Blvd., in Sun City. The infusion center is in Suite 100 and medical oncology and hematology is in Suite 200. Patients will be able to see their medical oncology providers and receive prescribed infusion treatments in the same location, often on the same day. Not having to drive to more than one location for treatment is a stress reducer for patients who may already be experiencing anxiety, Callister said.

The highly coordinated oncology team at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center at Banner Boswell Medical Center consists of board-certified physicians trained in various cancer specialties, and oncology nurses with vast experience. Together, they provide customized treatment plans using some of the latest medical equipment, in conjunction with the world-renowned protocols of MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center delivers cancer care to patients through the partnership of Banner Health and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Banner MD Anderson offers focused disease-specific expertise in the medical, radiation and surgical management of the cancer patient; an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach to patient care; access to clinical trials and new investigative therapies; state-of-the-art technology for the diagnosis, staging and treatment of all types of cancer; oncology expertise in supportive care services.
