Balanced legislation on chatbots will preserve main street’s competitiveness

OPINION — Arizona’s small businesses are competing in a marketplace that has changed dramatically in just a few years. Restaurants rely on digital advertising, local shops manage e-commerce storefronts, and service providers use AI-powered chatbots to answer customer questions instantly.

While Main Street businesses will always value in-person connections, maintaining a strong online presence is now essential.

Artificial intelligence is helping small businesses operate more efficiently and reach more customers. Across Arizona, more than 60% of small businesses already use AI tools, and many believe the technology will play an even bigger role in their future success. AI chatbots can assist with customer service, appointment scheduling, translation, and order tracking. Saving time for businesses with limited staff and allowing owners to focus on serving customers and growing their operations.
