Axon’s departure could chill recruiting efforts for tech companies

It looks like there will might a referendum on security technology maker Axon’s plans to build 1,895 apartments as part of its proposed world headquarters campus near the intersection of North Hayden Road and the Loop 101.

City Clerk Ben Lane has certified the group behind the referendum, Taxpayers Against Awful Zoning Exemptions, has gathered at least the 15,135 signatures needed to put the issue on the ballot for voters to decide.

“I want to thank the scores of citizens who helped make our petition effort a success by circulating petitions, signing petitions or just by passing the word. We will need all of your help to win in the upcoming campaign to save Scottsdale’s special character and high quality of life,” the group’s chairman Bob Littlefield wrote to the Daily Independent.
