Axon tries new legislative bill that would keep the company in Scottsdale

Facing opposition with its bill in the Arizona Senate that would allow security technology maker Axon to build its new world headquarters, along with 1,895 new apartments in Scottsdale, the company is taking a different tack in the House.

A strike everything amendment to Senate Bill 1543 was passed unanimously in the House International Trade Committee March 26.

The new version of the bill would require cities ranging in population of 200,000 to 500,000 to allow hotels and multi-family housing in an area zoned for light industrial use without a zoning hearing as long as it is located on a property that would contain an international headquarters.
