THE LEGISLATURE

Axon employees, state legislators, rally at the Capitol to keep the company in Scottsdale

Axon Founder Rick Smith joined several state legislators and about 800 employees and their family members at the state Capitol Tuesday morning to rally support for legislation that would keep the security technology company in Scottsdale.

“This is not just Scottsdale’s issue, This is Arizona’s issue,” said Sen. David Gowan, R-Sierra Vista, who introduced Senate Bill 1352.

The bill, if passed, would turn municipal and county rezoning actions into administrative moves rather then a legislative ones. That means they would not be subject to referendums. What’s more, it would be retroactive to July 1, 2024, which would preempt the referendum looming over Axon’s head in Scottsdale.
