Ax-citing new business opens in Surprise

Local couple creates unique place for entertainment

Every Halloween, Russ Dehlinger and Blanca Real convert their Surprise home into what’s regularly considered one of the best Halloween destinations in the West Valley.

Their haunted house, which they call House of Fears, attracts about 3,000 people during a typical year. Even during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last Halloween, 2,000 people still showed up.

“The line is down the street,” Dehlinger said.
