Avondale names new assistant fire chief
Posted
Justin Ernst has been named assistant chief for Avondale Fire and Medical.
Ernst was sworn into his new role on Monday, Feb. 6, at the Avondale City Council Meeting.
Ernst has been with Avondale Fire and Medical since 2005. He began his career with Avondale, providing the highest level of customer service including fire, medical and other life safety services, to Avondale residents.
“Avondale Fire and Medical will greatly benefit by having the skills and talents of Chief Ernst on our command team,” said Interim Fire Chief Larry Rooney. “ His commonsense approach and leadership style are a great fit for the entire department. Justin is well known for his hard work, guidance and collaboration throughout the region in providing solutions to fire, medical and rescue issues that municipal fire departments face.”
In addition to his almost two decades with Avondale Fire and Medical, Ernst’s credentials include a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Northern Arizona University, and an associate degree in emergency response and operations from Maricopa Community Colleges.
