Avondale looks to hire more police officers, one detention officer

The Avondale Police Department is looking for individuals to join the departments community-oriented focus from both a police aspect but also as a detention officer.

APD, which currently has 153 sworn personnel and 9 detention staff members, is looking for applicants to join to department with a $7,500 sign on bonus being offered.

“Applicants need to complete a thorough background process before they are hired. Police applicants take a written pre-screening test and those who pass are then invited to participate in a physical ability test. Following this, police applicants then participate in an interview panel composed of sworn officers and civilian employees. Applicants who successfully navigate through the interview process must then complete a personal history application, and participate in a background interview with a background investigator. Following this, the next steps are a polygraph examination, a psychiatric examination, and a medical examination,” The APD said.
