Avondale launches online engagement platform for citizens

Posted

The city of Avondale rolled out a new online citizen engagement platform, Avondale Connect, as part of its ongoing efforts to build a connected community through citizen engagement and transparent communication.

Accessible via the city's website homepage, Avondale Connect serves as a community engagement space that allows residents to get information, stay updated, provide feedback and share ideas on current projects, programs, and initiatives taking place in the City of Avondale.

The site offers various ways to connect through surveys, interactive maps, and discussion forums.

Avondale Connect launches with four featured projects — the Avondale Aquatic Center, the People’s Choice Leading EDGE Awards, and two developer-initiated planning projects. Future projects will include programs from other departments, including Neighborhood & Family Services and Public Works.

“It’s a priority of the Avondale City Council to engage residents in order to help the city make thoughtful citizen-involved decisions concerning a host of issues – from city capital improvement projects and developer-initiated plans, to programs and services offered by the city,” said Ron Corbin, Avondale City Manager, in a press release.  “Avondale Connect will be the online platform for residents to learn more about important topics and projects occurring in Avondale, and play a role in shaping their community.”

Through Avondale Connect, residents can learn about and engage on topics that matter to them, as well as receive updates on new projects.

To participate for the first time, residents and stakeholders are invited to register. While registration is not required to access Avondale Connect, it is necessary for many of the more interactive engagement opportunities, such as receiving timely updates on posted projects.
