Avondale is looking to buy water from the city of Chandler

The city of Avondale is making big plays to secure more water resources as the future of water security in Arizona is called into question amid decades-long drought.

Avondale is in talks with the city of Chandler to secure 18% of water from one of their shared water storage facilities for $5.75 million.

According to Avondale’s Public Works Director Kirk Beaty, on May 1, the Avondale City Council agreed to purchase additional storage entitlements in the New River Agua Fria Underground Storage Project from Chandler.
