The city of Avondale announced the one-year anniversary of its WeRIDE microtransit program, an award-winning initiative.
The program has added to public transportation options and community mobility in the Southwest Valley. Launched one year ago in partnership with the city of Goodyear, WeRIDE offers increased accessibility and reduces traffic congestion.
"Our WeRIDE success story echoes through the streets of Avondale, reminding us that when innovation meets determination, transformative change is inevitable,” Matthew Dudley, Avondale transit manager, shared in a press release.
Avondale shared the following key achievements of the WeRIDE Program in the city since it started in November 2022:
- Total rides provided in the first year: 24,000 passengers
- Average daily new users: four passengers
- Average daily ridership: 93 passengers
- Average daily repeat users: 48 passengers
- Average customer satisfaction rating: 4.9 out of 5.0 ride rating
- Percentage of trips that were on-time or adhered to the schedule: 96%
- Average wait times for residents from trip booking to pickup: 12 minutes
- Average ride time for a resident on a WeRIDE vehicle: 14 minutes
- Average total trip time length from booking to passenger dropoff: 26 minutes
- Percentage of shared rides with other residents: 46%
- Avondale residents booking a WeRIDE trip via the smartphone booking app: 78%
