Peoria's fleet challenged by microchip shortage, gas prices

The woes of the global automobile industry during the pandemic due to microchip shortages have been hitting Peoria’s fleet of around 900 vehicles.

Public Works Director Jay Davies said Peoria’s fleet team is facing some daunting challenges because of the microchip shortage and other related industry issues.

It is slowing activity, while pent-up demand is creating long waits and higher prices, he said.
