A state investigation into how the Liberty Elementary School District governing board conducts its meetings has concluded with no violations of Arizona’s Open Meeting Law.
During a recent board meeting, outside counsel Mark Hanson of The Ledbetter Law Firm presented the findings of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, which spent more than five months reviewing 18 allegations raised in late 2023 and early 2024. The resulting 10-page report, released June 20, found the board acted within the law in all instances.
The Open Meeting Law is designed to ensure transparency in public decision-making by requiring most governmental meetings be publicly noticed and accessible. For school districts, compliance with this law is a key part of maintaining public trust and accountability, particularly when issues around governance and transparency are raised.
