Greek astrologers once decried the Dog Days of Summer, a time of unpredictable weather, heat, drought, fever, mad dogs and bad luck. But beyond the ancient lore, one local expert warns summer poses a real-world threat as teens and other drivers run the highest risk of fatal car accidents.
Marc Lamber, a personal injury attorney with the Phoenix-based Fennemore Craig law firm, said the span between Memorial Day and Labor Day remains the deadliest time of year based on his 30 years of legal practice.
“What I’ve seen over all those years is during these summer months, really from Memorial Day until Labor Day, I’ve seen more accidents in that time frame than at any other,” Mr. Lamber told Daily Independent. “And particularly for teens, who are on the road, who are home from school, and often times what I see is they’re distracted or impaired.”
