ASU will house statewide environmental coalition in Tempe

Universities, utilities combine to create hydrogen hub

A statewide coalition of universities and utilities dedicated to combating the climate crisis will soon have a home in Tempe.

The coalition will be housed in the Rob and Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health on Arizona State University’s campus. Coalition members include ASU, the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Salt River Project, Arizona Public Service Co., Southwest Gas and Tucson Electric Power, according to a news release announcing the new center.

The group has already begun combining its efforts in weekly meetings to attain a carbon-neutral economy, according to Ellen Stechel, director for the Center For an Arizona Carbon-Neutral Economy.
