ASU, Mayo funding Valley-based medical research

The seed grant program will fund 7 proposals

Arizona State University and the Mayo Clinic are doing their part in pushing Valley- based medical research forward in the hopes of impacting the community.

The two research and medical giants, which form the Mayo Clinic and ASU Alliance for Health Care, have joined together to fund seven pilot projects this year through a seed grant program that was started in 2005.

Five proposals from teams of ASU researchers and Mayo doctors will be given $80,000 each to begin determining if the project is feasible to earn external funding. The Fred C. and Katherine B. Andersen Foundation — Mayo’s cancer center — will fund two more proposals for $100,000 each.
