Posted

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, ASU’s American Indian Policy Institute hosted a reception for Tribal and community leaders at Desert Botanical Garden on Oct. 10.

Attendees learned about the work that AIPI is doing to address complex Tribal community challenges.

Gov. Stephen Lewis of the Gila River Indian Community spoke on the importance of Tribal sovereignty, an issue impacting Native Americans across the country.

A representative of one of AIPI’s funders, Arizona Public Service, spoke about the organization’s support of AIPI’s Indigenous Leadership Academy.

This program works with emerging Indigenous leaders across the country to find solutions in shaping new strategies for Indian country.
