ASU continues downtown Phoenix revival after 15 years

Downtown Phoenix was once a sparsely populated part of the country’s fifth-largest city, a land of vacant lots and empty streets once office buildings closed for the evening.

During the past 15 years, Phoenix’s downtown has become a thriving urban oasis full of arts and culture, brand-new businesses and plenty of dining options.

According to a 2014 census report, there were approximately 92,825 residents living within a 3-mile radius of downtown. That number was expected to jump by about 7,000 before 2019. Today, thousands of apartments are currently under development to accommodate a growing workforce.
